Matt Waring Great collection from those wonderful people at Cats? Aye. Only complaint would be that there needs to be more Giles but still very good regardless. Favorite track: Harrow Adam.

xrenxcorex Once I listened to a song about Roo having sex whilst dressed as a cowboy about 20 times in a row. This is the record that made it happen. Favorite track: Bedtimes.

about

The Darlington Sessions #1
(co-released by Darlington Road Recordings)

The first acoustic session from Tim Greaves’ and El Morgan’s new Darlington Road studios comes from three familiar voices of the UK punk rock community; Roo Pescod, Giles Bidder and Kelly Kemp.

Roo and Giles are better known for fronting Bangers and Great Cynics respectively, and Kelly, as well as being one quarter of Livers and Lungs, has been prolifically performing solo since the demise of No Comply in 2006.

The Darlington Sessions #1 is a document of a long weekend, entered into with skeleton songs which were poked and played with under the fond eye of good friends, under the guidance of good times. The session places three very different song writers on one side of wax backed up by a select group of friends, and everybody audibly gives their two cents. From the warm friendly tones of Bidder through the oft’ bitter growl of Pescod, to the beautiful super-melodies of Kemp, everybody tells their own tale and then adds a violin or electric guitar or backing vocal to the next for good measure.

Most importantly; the songs are good. You’ll find stories about living with love, reflecting on past glories, attempting to do better, a soupcon of destruction, and an overriding ambience of growing up in good company. And more than anything that’s what this LP, and future Darlington sessions aim to celebrate, the joy of getting a group of friends and a pile of instruments in the same room and pressing record.

The 1st Darlington Sessions will see the light of day, digitally on Christmas Day and on single sided 12" vinyl on January 21st through Cats? Aye! Records and Darlington Road Recordings, with the 'Survival Tour' hitting the UK's venues around the same time.

From the writing, the recording, through to the release and the tour, this record has only been made possible through friendships and the camaraderie that is found within the UK punk scene in 2012/2013.
